Think and Grow Rich

Napoleon Hill's classic "Think and Grow Rich" was first published in 1937, just as we were coming out of the Great Depression. I am re-reading it once again (I have lost track of how many times I have read this book) I am amazed at how current this book remains. If you have not read Think and Grow Rich in a while I strongly suggest you pull it off the shelf, dust off the cover, and dive back in. There has never been a better time to Think and Grow Rich!

Goal Achiever Workshop

Scott Jackson, author or PreMeditated Success in Life, is hosting the 2009 Goal Achiever Workshop in Myrlte Beach, South Carolina, on January 3, 2009.

The Expectations of our Peers

“People rarely rise above the expectations of their peers. When we see those around us gaining weight, it becomes acceptable for us to gain weight; when our associates struggle financially, it becomes the norm; if your buddies are dropping out of school, why not you? It is not maliciousness on the part of our peers; it is just that most people share a very low standard for success. It isn’t that the population at large isn’t capable of great things; they just don’t see themselves as capable of greatness. We tend to look around us to determine what is possible. My new friends certainly were not at fault for not challenging my decision to quit school. My actions fit well within their paradigm, or model of acceptable behavior. I lived up to the expectations of my peers.”

A change of thought

"The first evidence that you have indeed changed your thinking is when you notice that your actions have changed with very little effort on your part. I know the Law of Attraction exists. I know it exists because I have experienced it. I changed my reality by first changing the way I think. Pay close attention here – I did not say I changed my reality just by changing the way I think; I said I changed my reality by first changing the way I think."

Vivid Anticipation

“Vivid anticipation is the extreme sports version of “as a man thinketh.” It is the difference between a thought and a vision; it is the energy that fuels the Law of Attraction. When we vividly anticipate good stuff, life is great. When we vividly anticipate bad stuff, life is torturous. Personally, I prefer great over torturous.”

Gifts for the Greater Good

“Sometimes our greatest gifts were forged through times of great adversity, and it is this life experience that we have to offer for the Greater Good. Some of the most effective counselors in the field of alcohol and drug abuse are recovering alcoholics and drug addicts. It is the survivors of domestic violence, sexual abuse, cancer, violent crime and other extreme situations who are most qualified to assist others through the same challenges.”

The Seeds of Attraction

“Whether your need is love, tolerance, understanding, patience, kindness, financial assistance, or just about anything else you can think of, somewhere out there another person is trying to attract that very same thing into their lives. Perhaps our perceived need is really just a calling for us to answer that need in someone else’s life. When our eyes are open, the opportunities to plant seeds are all around us.”

Life Leadership

“Life Leadership is the belief that our own agenda, our values and principles, our Personal Vision of Success, is not of a lower priority than that of Other People. Our lives are not of lesser importance. We recognize ourselves as being the leader/authority in our lives. In this respect, our lives are indeed an act of insubordination. We are accountable to ourselves, our own values and principles, first and foremost.”

Student fo Life

“If you are going to change your reality, you first must change your thinking. Old ideas and old thoughts are incapable of producing new results. We need new ideas and a deeper level of thinking if we want tomorrow to be different than today. So, how do we get our same old brain to kick out some new material on a regular basis? Only a continuous stream of education can produce a continuous stream of new thoughts and ideas. It is a daily commitment to learning, a student for life approach to education that will keep you moving forward.”
